Now for the practical details...

We are open Monday - Friday from 9.30 until 12 noon, afternoon sessions are currently Tuesday and Thursday 1pm - 3.30pm. (Increasing in Spring term or if there is sufficient demand beforehand)

We are now also running a Lunch Club; this  runs from 12 - 1pm Tues-Thurs. It's on a daily sign up basis, costs £5 and you provide your child with a packed lunch.

We are based in Dorset Road W5, at the junction of Dorset Rd, Overdale Rd and Trent Avenue in what was the Sherman Labour Hall but is now the Ealing Christadelphian Hall. We accept children from the age of 2 (although our afternoon sessions are mainly for children aged 2 and a half upwards, those not needing a nap basically).

Fees are paid half-termly in advance at £16 per session. We also charge an additional services fee of £20 each half term - this covers the costs of outside services like Tennis, Rugby, Rainbow Fairy etc. The children love these extra sessions and we try to book them so everyone experiences everything over the course of the year.

Most children qualify for 3 yr old funding the term after they are 3 (please see bottom of the page for cut off dates). We are also registered with various workplace related childcare voucher schemes. (Accor, Care4, Allsave, Kiddicare and Busy Bees.) We are more than happy to accept childcare vouchers from any other company, just let us know the details.

We also accept referrals for 2 yr old funded places.

Whilst we don’t have the ability to offer the full 30 hours free childcare, we are able to offer up to 17.5 hours, or to offer extended hours if your child attends elsewhere (this includes if your child is attending a school nursery AM class as we currently have 2 PM sessions available).

There are conditions to meet for the 30 hours – you can find more info here

www.childcarechoices.gov.uk

To receive funding for this term you MUST have got your eligibility code BEFORE September 1st, and if you are looking at claiming it in January (it comes into effect the term AFTER your child turns 3) please look into your eligibility now.

It is YOUR responsibility to ensure you renew your codes on time

Children usually attend for 2 or 3 mornings per week, but you may choose as few or as many sessions as you wish for your child, providing we have the space available. A New Starter leaflet is sent to you before your child is ready to join the Playgroup which will give you further information about what to expect.

You are always welcome to stay with your child until you feel comfortable leaving them or we ask you to leave, which we would probably only do if you were still here after 6 weeks. Few parents ever stay that long, 2 or 3 sessions is most common, but it depends on your child.

At present while we have mainly 2 yr olds we have a minimum of 5 staff every day. There is a higher OFSTED ratio of children to staff for the under 3's , the ratio being 1:4 for under 3's and 1:8 for over 3's.

A key worker is allocated to each child, and introduced to the parents/carer. This makes settling into the group easier and the key worker is responsible for helping their children to join in the activities. Once they reach 3 years old, a record of each child's activities and learning of new skills is kept so that both staff and parents can help the child reach their full potential.

Playgroup also issues each child with a codeword. This word or phrase will be unique to your child. Please make a note of it, and keep it where you will have ready access to it at all times your child is at playgroup, because it will be for obvious reasons, fairly obscure. You will be given your codeword/phrase when your child starts playgroup.

IF SOMEONE UNEXPECTED ARRIVES TO COLLECT YOUR CHILD, AND DOES NOT KNOW THE CODE, YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO GO WITH THEM.

We appreciate that this may cause a few problems, but ask you to understand that this will ensure that your child leaves playgroup only with people that you have chosen.

We do not expect that you will need to make use of your code during the time that your child is at playgroup, but it gives playgroup and you, an added security in case of the unexpected.
